Toes grip the floor and it’s an “instant miracle!” says happy mom whose senior dog struggled on slippery floors

Two Golden Retrievers sitting together with title, "An instant miracle for our two senior Golden Retrievers", - Bonnie K. ToeGrips customer

A dog’s toes grip the ground. Their toenails act like soccer cleats to provide traction. The dog rises and walks. It sounds simple. But for senior and special needs dogs, walking on tile, laminate, or hardwood floors can be a real challenge.

Bonnie, the proud owner of two senior Golden Retrievers, had tried all sorts of dog gripping products—dog boots, traction socks, even balloon booties. In her own words, she was “completely frustrated.” Until she discovered ToeGrips® dog nail grips. Read Angel and Amber’s happy-ending story as shared by their mom, Bonnie.

ToeGrips have been an instant miracle for our Golden Retrievers

“This is a life changing product! Dr. Buzby’s ‘ToeGrips’ have been an instant miracle for our two senior Golden Retriever sisters, Angel and Amber…. and when I say instant, I mean it.

Angel especially has not been able to get traction on any flooring (of any kind) as she has aged. She has always been the bigger (and lazier!) of the two sisters. I recently tried doggie traction booties and socks, but they somehow just didn’t fit well and spun around or slipped off, even with double velcro, correct sizing, etc.

I tried balloon booties but they pull on the hair…

I also tried the balloon booties but they pulled on the hair because they felt tight and they would eventually chew on them to try to get them off. I resorted to running to the pharmacy to buy adhesive wraps—which I wrapped around cotton over their paws just as immediate help, but those also failed by the next day.

I read that dogs need air to their paws, and anything that restricts their toes from spreading out as they get up was not a good idea, so ultimately I knew that booties and socks may not be the best solution.

I came across Dr. Buzby’s invention and thought, “Wow!”

Completely frustrated with purchasing and returning items that didn’t work, I came across Dr. Buzby’s invention and thought WOW, I will try anything, it’s worth looking into this.  Their website was extremely helpful and informative, and I also watched many videos on the internet reviewing the ToeGrips and the results it had on their dogs.

I was hopeful to see if they could help Angel and Amber.

Their customer service was amazing when I first called with some questions that I had.  I then ordered them and they arrived quickly.

Before ToeGrips, Angel would sway, trip, and her legs would shake a little…

Angel prefers to lay down like a flat pancake, with both arms and legs spread way out to her sides. When she got older and wasn’t as fit or as strong, she would scuttle around and slip trying to get up. Eventually, she would just give up and stay laying down.

Trying to help her up was useless, too, not only with her weight, but the fact that she had become weaker over time and was not making the effort to even bother to get up. She just didn’t want to try anymore.  The times that she would be up just enough time to go to the bathroom and eat, she would sway, sometimes trip, and when she ate, you could see her legs shaking a little. She would lay down the first chance she got, even when trying to play.

Before ToeGrips, Angel seemed depressed, distant, and sad.

She seemed depressed and had developed a “distant and sad” look in her eyes.  She even stopped wagging her tail.  Vet visits and blood tests did not reveal any issues relating to this, and she had long been on natural remedies for inflammation and pain relief maintenance.

The day I put ToeGrips on her…

The day I put the toe grips on her, she was already laying down as usual. I knew she would attempt to get up when she was ready, but I had no clue when that would be. I sat next to her watching TV to pass the time.

AND THEN….SHE GOT RIGHT UP!!  It was SO quick that I did a double-take!

I would say it was all of 2-3 seconds and she was up and walking around!  The feeling that I had seeing this was incredible. I was truly shocked.  I just couldn’t believe this just happened. I watched her walk all over the house, not slipping or flinching or even trying to walk carefully around corners. I could see her realize that she could move around with complete traction.

Even though our floors now have tacky mats on the paths were she walks around to also help with traction, she has NO problems lifting up and getting around on all surfaces or getting up from her beds around the house (which she would also lose her balance on)!

It (ToeGrips® dog nail grips) has truly been a miracle for both dogs…

Even when she has days when she is really lazy, these toe grips let her get right up when she is ready to. It has truly been a miracle for both dogs, they both have toe grips on now and they will for the rest of their lives for sure!

They have not come off even walking around outside.  They did not seem to even notice they were on, they did not pick up their paws when they walked, they simply just seemed to realize it solved their slipping problem.

The toe grips are helping Angel regain her balance…

UPDATE: Dr. Buzby’s ToeGrips not only changed the lives of both dogs, Angel has been getting stronger every day because not only can she walk around as much as she wants with confidence, her legs stopped trembling!  I believe that the toe grips are helping her regain the balance and stability she needed and she is on her way to getting fit as a senior dog.  She walks all the time now and I am so thrilled, there just are no words to match emotions.

Golden Retriever walking and testimonial "ToeGrips have truly been a miracle" Bonnie, ToeGrips customer

Unbelievable. For the first time, she walked on a section of a stainless steel ramp on our porch where she’d always stopped and stood staring at it— knowing it would be a bad idea if she walked on it. I had purposely not put mats over that section to prevent her from walking down the ramp to the sidewalk. And she didn’t for the whole 6 months since they had been installed.

Before ToeGrips, Angel would stop and stare at the ramps.

Later in the day on that first day their toe grips were on,  I sat on the front porch with the dogs.  I saw Angel stop at the end of the porch where the ramp starts and didn’t think anything of it.  I jumped out of my chair when I saw Angel walk onto the ramp for the first time!  She disappeared around the corner so I rushed over.  There she was, walking around with no problems!

Watch Angel conquer the ramp in this video:

With ToeGrips, Angel had the confidence to walk on ramps. Watch the video.

It is clearly a testament to how she knows she feels the traction, balance and confidence that she didn’t have until she had the toe grips.

Seriously consider these toe grips…especially for senior dogs or dogs with slipping issues.

Now Angel has started wagging her tail again and has gotten a ‘smile’ back on her face.  The glimmer has come back in her eyes. The difference is like night and day.  I wish I had come across this product so much earlier.

I can’t say enough about this product. I would implore everyone to seriously consider these toe grips for their dog, especially for senior dogs or dogs that have slipping/balance/weakness issues. If your dog even struggles ONE time trying to get up, you need to order them ASAP.”
